The film held its world premier at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.
Tim Cavagin, Head of Sound at Twickenham Studios, recently completed the sound mix for the forthcoming documentary film, which features extensive unseen archive footage and previously unheard tracks, on the AMS Neve DFC Gemini.
“AMY is without doubt one of the most moving projects I have ever had the pleasure of working on, and one that, because of the many different sources the audio was derived from, presented its very own unique challenges. Heavy equalisation and use of compression can sometimes leave an indelible mark , but the DFC’s fabulous EQ and dynamics enabled us to keep that “warm film sound feel” intact. We wanted the audience to feel totally immersed whenever her recordings were featured, and as we were given the multitrack recordings to some tracks, to also be able to give them a slightly different balance and feel to what they’re used to. I believe we achieved this and am really proud of the result. “
See AMY in cinemas in the UK from 3rd July 2015.
