Desperate Romantics come up for AIR

The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood in a scene from the BBC’s Desperate Romantics

BBC’s steamy costume drama mixed at Lyndhurst facility’s DFC Gemini

Culture (or at least a smattering of art history), intrigue and steamy sex: BBC’s latest costume drama, Desperate Romantics, has it all. In six hour-long episodes, Peter Bowker’s series follows the careers and intertwining love lives of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, whose scandalous personal relationships excited as much contemporary comment as their revolutionary paintings.

Recreating the authentic ambience for settings not only in art galleries, salons and studios, but also in the alleys and flesh-houses of 19th-century industrial London, turned into a mammoth audio post production project for AIR Studios. Breathe Post (now rebranded AIR Post Production) handled all ADR, tracklay and sound design, while the final mix was by Pip Norton on the 48-fader DFC Gemini in AIR Studio 3.
