During the development of AudioFile SC/X, AMS Neve worked closely with clients to ensure that the AMS AudioFile SC/X solved a multitude of real-world post production problems. By understanding tomorrow's business requirements of sharp deadlines and HD standards, AudioFile SC/X has been engineered to incorporate an increased number of tracks, larger project capacity, flexible file formats, super faster editing and innovative intelligent networking technology – StarNet.

The AudioFile SC/X comes into its own when confronted with the pressure of looming transmission deadlines. Edits of complex dialogue become effortless; there is still no substitute for the dedicated interface and intuitive workflow of the AudioFile SC/X. The AudioFile's trim function is regarded as the best in the world, and AudioFile SC/X allows you to trim dialogue in a completely unrestricted environment. Slip/locked/fades/audio – all these parameters can be freely adjusted without rendering, and re-adjusted as many times as you like with no 'unpicking' or 'start again' requirements. Built-in multi-machine control, reel rock of unsurpassed quality and a completely real time editing environment make the AudioFile SC/X the professional tool for the professional environment.

Performance

The innovative SC/X technology harnesses the power of Intel Pentium 4 processors, dual channel RAM, Sharc DSP and fast, LVD SCSI to deliver a superfast, high performance, editing environment allowing operators to focus on creativity.

With its unique architecture the AudioFile SC/X provides a huge increase in storage capacity – an amazing 2TB. The high capacity of today's drives meant that users would hit the previous cue limit of 3,072 per drive well before running out of drive space. The SC/X upgrade increases the cues per drive up to 16,000 with no performance hit.

The base configuration of AudioFile SC/X is 48 tracks. So whatever your current track count you will get an instant increase. Unlike rival systems these are 48 real tracks – capable of a 48 into 48 crossfade at 48kHz/24-bit. Playback performance is linear and therefore not affected by disk fragmentation.

Existing AudioFile users can share in the increased power inherent in the AudioFile SC/X through attractively-priced system upgrades.

Control Surface

Taking inspiration from fighter jet display technology, the dedicated, tactile controller of the SC/X with built-in TFT display provides a level of control, raw power and speed unobtainable with a mouse interface. Dual audio scrub wheels give the user direct contact with the sound. All editing and transport functions are within easy reach and can be easily controlled – including remote machine track arming. In intense, high pressure, environments where speed is of the essence, there is nothing better than the dedicated control surface of the AudioFile SC/X.

File Interchange

Open platform architecture plays a major role in the philosophy of the AudioFile SC/X. AudioFile SC/X supports OMF1, OMF2, AAF, AES31, DEVA and Pro Tools 5.0 file formats. Files can be converted between 44.1kHz and 48kHz during import. Also supported is wav, bwav and aiff import and export. The AudioFile can be connected to the world-wide-web for direct download/upload of files via ftp sites allowing you to get your finished programme to your client in a matter of seconds.

Enhanced for AudioFile, AMS Neve's intelligent networking technology, StarNet™, provides a powerful and secure mechanism for efficient project and media management without complication.

StarNet™ provides a complete solution for storing and transferring projects in a multi-room facility. The system has been developed in close liaison with the world's leading multi-studio facilities, who are the pioneers of efficient project workflow. The result is a network that enhances project flow without compromising performance in individual studios or requiring excessive management.

StarNet™ is an open system, using industry-standard Gigabit Ethernet Connections. Large numbers of projects can be stored on a central server, which is accessible from all studios. Other major benefits of StarNet™ include shared online effects libraries and centralised file exchange and archiving.
